Christmas… it truly is the most wonderful and magical time of the year. Welcome to our first posting. I feel so with the times at last. It’s been a whirlwind at Fountainview getting prepared for the holiday season. Although we had decorated the Christmas trees in the guest rooms in early November, it was not possible to start on all the decor for the public rooms until November 22nd. Aided by the Youth Choir from our church, Auburn UMC, the several attics were emptied of their holiday treasures resulting in what looked like an explosion of decorations. We had only 4 days to be up and running for our first open house due to the Thanksgiving holiday and the Iron Bowl weekend. But, we made it. All 76 trees are now fully decorated, hundreds of poinsettias in place, and thousands of lights are in place to welcome your arrival. There truly is no place like Fountainview for the holidays!
Especially incredible to see this year is the gingerbread creation of Fountainview Mansion by Robin Fowler. I’ll try to update the blog with a photo soon. It truly is a work of art – a real labor of love representing over 100 hours of labor and painstaking detail. God bless you Robin. If you are looking for the best wedding cake this side of heaven, give her a call at Sonshine Cakes in Auburn.
Breakfast with St. Nicholas was a great hit with many wide-eyed children eager with anticipation to catch the first glimpse of Santa. Were they surprised when he arrived by helicopter! What an incredible sight to see the helicopter hovering overhead with Santa waving to the enthusiastic children on the ground. It was a perfect beginning for what we hope will be an annual tradition. Thanks to Lee and Michelle Danielly of Geordan Communities for making that memorable moment possible for the children. We hope to be able to begin another annual tradition next year with an Easter Egg Roll on the mansion’s grounds.
I hope you’ll join us for our annual Holiday High Tea on Friday, December 11th with an afternoon of great entertainment featuring violinist, Mario Urbina, soloist, Jacquie Cruz, and the Auburn UMC Women’s Ensemble accompanied by all your favorite holiday treats including scones, trifle, assorted cheese cakes and much more. E-mail us at info@fountainviewmansion.com or call us at 334-466-2120 for reservations.
God bless and have a great week.
